Our layout has some unrealistically steep gradients to clear the ‘Luce’, with we imagine is a river turned shipping canal. Robin named the river after his sister.
Rather than a Russian river, it is intended to resemble L’Escaut, that flows through the wider family’s hometown in Belgium. Beyond a sparse line of poplar trees, and a bright cycle path, we have largely ignored this so far.
The town embankment will be well kept. The far embankment has steeper sides though, and longer term i’d hope it could come to resemble more the riverside bluffs of the Don or Volga rivers.
There were lots of good youtube videos about how to make realistic looking water. None of them involved painting tinfoil and putting a perspex sheet down on top though. I guess we might try and rescue this in the future!
